Venonat is a Bug / Poison-type Pokémon, No. 048 in the National Pokédex, introduced in Generation 1 (Kanto region).
Its story
Lifestyle
It sleeps by day in a tree hole and hunts at night for small insects drawn to bright light. Shaken hard, its fur spreads a toxic liquid. It evolves into Venomoth.
In the anime
Tracey’s Venonat is one of the two Pokémon he owns before meeting Ash. He uses it to see far away or in the dark, and it later becomes Venomoth.
Name origin
Venonat may join venom and gnat, a small insect. Its design blends several insects, and its eyes resemble parabolic antennas.
